Tonight I went to FCA and while there I talked with some friends and as it turns out there is a fair amount of people who are going through some tough times. My heart cries out for them and I hope that they come through in one piece. I know how hard some of these things can get and I am praying for you all. God has really pressed on my heart some things and I just want to share them.

Psalms 23 is a good passage to start with. Many of you may know it; some of you may not. I will put it down for you.

Psa 23:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

A verse here really got me. It was number four. “though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil. for thou art with me, thy rod and staff they comfort me.” God will always comfort us and lead us through tough times. Someone once said “a hammer shatters glass, but forges steel.” If you are going through a tough time it might hurt now. It might feel unbearable but God is using this to get you.

God cannot use anyone who isn’t broken. He has to break you and heres an analogy as to why. Growing up around horses I have broken a couple colts. We get the used to the saddle then when they seem calm enough I get on and try riding. Sometimes you get a horse that tries to buck and get you out of that saddle because it is an unnatural feeling for them. They try for all their worth to get you out of that saddle. Eventually they see that you know whats best for them and they let you ride and control them. God has to break us so we loose every bit of rebellion. When he breaks us he is assured we will never try to get Him “off the saddle” again. It is going to be hard.

A great evangelist has said that he went through something hard. He called it the fiery trial. He became severely depressed and he would wake up at night with major panic attacks. They would be so bad that he would cry out at the top of his lungs for God to stop the fear and pain but God let it continue. He stayed in bed most of the day and he had to about physically make himself go to church. He tried everything he could think of but nothing he could do helped. Eventually he became completely broken. He fell down on his face and told God to pick up the pieces of what was left and make them his. Today he is one of the most effective evangelists and he is a great teacher to many.

Just remember God is going to send you through these things not to discourage you but to break you. He wants to use you for Him but you need to completely submit yourself to him and when you do he will pull you through, eventually. God has a plan for your life and I know someday we will know the answer to these questions we are asking him.

God Bless you all, your brother in Christ.

Yesterday I went through why using the law makes sense. Now I’m going to show you how to use they Law. You can preach the Law easily and effectively if you just follow the acronym WDJD. the W stands for “would you consider yourself a good person,” which is what we should ask them and I will guarantee that 96% of people will say yes.

D stands for “do you think you’ve kept the ten commandments”. Most people won’t know what these are so we should run through some of them. The ones I like to use as they are ones most people break hundreds of times on a daily basis are: Thou shalt not lie, thou shalt not steal, and thou shalt not use the Lord your God’s name in vain. To ask these you would ask “Have you ever told a lie?” “Have you ever taken anything that wasn’t yours?” “Have you ever used the Lord’s name in vain?”. Let’s say that they said yes to “Have you ever told a lie?” You would then ask “and what does that make you?” it is a simple, effective way to get them to admit that they are a liar, thief, blasphemer, adulterer, etc.

The J stands for “Judgment”. This is where we explain to them that there will be a day when they will eventually die and get judged by God on that day. We can simply ask “and if you died right now and stood before God would he find you innocent or guilty of breaking his Law?” They should say guilty but most people think they would be forgiven because God is only loving and forgiving. A simple way to show them that this theory is wrong is to “take them to court” Tell them an analogy along the lines of “your standing in court in front of a judge. All the evidence shows you are guilty of breaking ten laws, now if he were a good, just judge should he send you to jail or let you free?” They will say “I should go to jail” then you simply point out that God is even more perfect and just than an earthly judge.

The last D stands for “Destiny”. When we get them to say they are guilty we ask if they will go to heaven or hell. We know that the correct answer is hell but they might not. We need to gently say that Hell is God’s “jail” and it is for eternity. When they realize this we need to ask if it concerns them they are heading to hell. If it doesn’t we need to show them the extremity of Hell. A good way to do this is to ask them if they would sell their eyes for 20 million dollars. They will probably say no because they need their eyes to see. Then simply ask “if you value your eyes this much should you not value your life so much more?” Jesus told us that if our eyes cause us to sin we should pluck it out and cast it away from us, for it is better to enter Heaven with one eye then Hell with both.

After we have shown them the extremity of their crimes and the punishment then we can share with them the gospel that Jesus died for their sins and if they trust in him and repent they can have everlasting life. Many people will say they have repented. You simply need to ask them what they think repent means. Many people will say to repent means to feel sorry for your sins and to ask forgiveness for them, but that’s only part of the meaning. To repent means to turn away from your sin and to disassociate with it. You need to cast your sins away from you and “Sin no more”. Some might argue with this definition but I’m going to show you something.

(Exo 32:14) And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.

(Jon 3:10) And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.

These are just two examples. Do you think when God repented he asked the people to forgive him? I would hope you don’t think this! God has no need for us to forgive HIM it is the other way around. God just simply turned away from pouring out his anger on the people! So when we repent of our sins we SHOULD feel sorry for them because we are not honoring the God who gave us life and everything we enjoy. When we repent we should turn away from our sins and know them no more.

In God’s all powerful name, your brother in Christ.

Did you know that today there are more than 90% of Christians “backsliding”? We incorrectly call them backsliders because they seemed saved than they fall away from the faith, but the truth is they never moved forward in the first place. That’s because the modern Gospel has forsaken the use of God’s Law. Without God’s Law sinners can’t see that they need God and they won’t come to the foot of the cross broken. The truth is this: no body wants to offend people to bring them to Christ, and the Law does just that. It offends them because it is like a bright light to those walking in darkness, and if you’ve ever had a bright light shined at your eyes after spending some time in the dark you will know how this feels. It offends them because it awakens their conscience and lets them see how truly evil they are. For without the law sin was dead. If we fail to show sinners the Law they will not know that they have sinned. Showing them the light of the Law truly shows how dark their sin is. It exposes the disease before it exposes the cure.

We are called to use the Law in witnessing and preaching to the unsaved. Paul used it as did Timothy, Stephen, Peter, James, Luke, Mark, Jeremiah, and more importantly it is how Jesus did it. If it was good enough for THE greatest preacher ever to step foot on this earth it is definitely good enough for me. He used it with the woman at the well, when the Jews brought forth the adulterous woman, and when he preached the sermon on the mount. It is the most useful tool in the evangelists toolbox and has shown time and time again its usefulness.

Using the Law to preach just makes sense. Here’s an analogy to show why. Your sitting at home and suddenly a police officer bursts through your door and says “your under arrest, your going to jail for a VERY long time.” The thought crossing your mind might just be like this: what the heck did I do?, and you would have the right to think such a thought! But now imagine this: the police officer breaks through your door slaps the cuffs on you and says “We found the 5,000 marijuana plants in your back yard, your under arrest and your going to jail for a VERY long time!” Now you would know the reason your going to jail and the punishment for the crime. This is what we do when we preach the Law we show them their crime and then we show them their punishment.

Tomorrow I will show you how to do this but this post is starting to get long. Until tomorrow. Serve the King.

Today I was driving and thinking about some things some friends of mine and I were talking about. I was thinking of what I could do to spread the Word of God, and he told me he wanted me to be a teacher to other believers. I’ve always wanted to be an evangelist so this was a different concept to me. After I realized this I had a deep sense of peace settle over me so I knew that He will help me accomplish this in His own ways.

A friend of mine pointed out some verses to me Ephesians 4:11-13 they tell us how a person who teaches God’s World should be. I feel these verses will help me to attain the knowledge to help others strengthen their faith in God. Thanks, Godspeed.

Today’s post will come from the verse Isaiah 59:1, 2 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

God can and will save us. His hand is not shortened when it comes to this as he loved us enough to give his only son to die for us. He is willing that none should perish but come to him for eternal life. He tells us in one of the most credible and proved books in history; the Holy Bible. Many people have tried attacking the Bible saying it is a book of fairy tales to trying to point out contradictions in it. Just the other night some one tried pointing one out to me it was from the book 2 Samuel 10:18 and 1 Chronicles 19:18. 2 Samuel says David slew men of 700 chariots and 40,000 horsemen, and 1 Chronicles says that David slew 7000 men who fought in chariots and 40,000 footmen.

This is easily explained as there were 700 chariots in the army but 7000 men who fought in them, and the Syrian army didn’t just consist of chariots and horsemen, but also of footmen. The account of 2 Samuel and 1 Chronicles were just written of different people so they had different views on the battle. Perhaps Samuel didn’t care about the footmen who were killed, and maybe Ezra didn’t care about the horsemen. So you see this really isn’t a contradiction.

The second part of this verse says that God’s ear heavy that he cannot hear. He can hear you whenever you pray, ask something of him, or praise him. He is willing to answer all of your prayers, you just have to watch for him doing it as he probably won’t do it in the way you most expect. But you must realize that whatever way he does it is the way that will fit most into his grand scheme of the universe, and you must be willing to accept it when it happens. God works in mysterious ways and we can’t hope to even begin to understand such a divine being, we are just supposed to have faith in God’s decision as it is for the best, even if we don’t think so.

Thank you and Godspeed.

Tonight I wish to share a message with you that I think we could all use. I read it tonight in my devotions and I felt it applied directly to our generation. It comes from Romans 2:12-29 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; 13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. 14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: 15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) 16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel. 17 Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God, 18 And knowest his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law; 19 And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness, 20 An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law. 21 Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? 22 Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege? 23 Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God? 24 For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written. 25 For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision. 26 Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision? 27 And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law? 28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: 29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

I know this is a long passage and it brings up a lot of points I would like to cover. The first one is from verses 12-15 it talks about sin as being not failure to hear the Law but instead as failure to follow the Law. It says that the people who never hear of the Law in this life will be doomed to hell for sinning, the reason for this is because God planted his Law on all our hearts. We call this conscience and it tells us right from wrong. That’s why as kids we always knew lying was bad because we felt guilty even thought no one told us that right away. God gave us his Law so we would know what is right and wrong in this world. Even though we know this we still sin because it is in our nature. Which is where my next point comes into play.

Verses 16-23 tell us that we should not judge others because there will come a day when God will judge everyone according to Jesus. He also says that we should not accuse others because we have done the same things. We should not point fingers at adulterers, because have we not committed adultery? Remember lusting after someone is committing adultery in your heart. How dare we point fingers at those who bow down before other Gods when we worship idols. Putting money, greed, family, friends before God in your life is making them more important than him which is sacrilege.

The next part was a little confusing for me at first until I did some research. Circumcising was a show of faith to the Jews just like baptism of the water. We are told here that if a Jew doesn’t follow the Law it is like he was never circumcised, but if a Genital followed the law it was as if he were circumcised. That didn’t mean a lot to me right away either until I realized that only the Jews were allowed into heaven before Jesus sacrificed himself so only the Jews circumcised. All in all if you follow the Law it is like you are circumcised but if you break the Law its as if you were never circumcised.

This is my message tonight. Just remember to always put your trust in the Lord and He will lead you down the right path. Follow the Law and help others to come to it but don’t accuse. Your loving brother in Christ, Cody

I was sitting here trying to decide what to type to you tonight, I couldn’t think of anything and something Jesus said came to mind. It was Matthew 10:19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. 20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you. He is telling us not to say because when it comes time to speak God will give us the words he wants us to say. We shouldn’t worry about what we should or need to say as God will put the words into our mouth.

I have recently been going to an online chat room for Christians and some people with questions about faith come on there and ask them. Every time God gives me the words to say and He helps me reach these people. I pray that you meditate on these verses and just trust in the Lord to give you the right things to say the next time someone asks you a question. God Bless.

I was driving home from a pool party tonight when I started thinking about my friends and family and I started praying for them, that they would come to Christ, that they would see there sins and realize that they need to be forgiven. As I was doing this God brought a verse to the front of my mind; it was Matthew 7:3-5 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

I will admit at first I had no clue why this verse popped into my mind, than as soon as I started thinking I realized that I was praying that others would see there faults and I was eager to help them when in reality it was I that was sinning. Lately I have been prideful and selfish, and I was thinking things that were disrespectful for myself, my friends and family, and my God. Things were going through my mind that I shouldn’t be thinking because they were disrespectful and they were dishonoring people.

At the party I fell into my old ways, making fun of people (behind their backs), saying things I shouldn’t have said. I was trying to see other peoples faults without seeing my own and getting rid of them. I was making a grave mistake. God says he will forgive, even forget our sins, all we have to do is confess them to him. He is a great and loving God and He wants nothing more than to see us obey Him and spread his word. He wants us to love Him and spend eternity with Him. We can only do that if we are sinless when we die. By accepting Jesus, God sees his perfection in us when we die and to him we have no sin.

I’m not saying that when we confess our sin we forget them, even forgiven sin has its consequences. I still haven’t forgotten all my sin and some of it haunts me to this day. But in God’s eyes we are sinless if we have Jesus living in us. He is willing to forget our sin if we confess it because so great is His wanting for us to reside in His glory forever.

Just remember, we must first cast out our own faults before we can help others cast out theirs. Pray that God will help you do this, as no problem is to great or small for him. He will be willing to help, if maybe not in the ways we expect. God Bless. Your Brother in Christ, Cody Wright

2009 is gone and in rolls 2010. I’m sure many of you are thinking of making new year resolutions, as am I. Many of you might have resolutions such as losing weight, eating healthier, working out every day, or saving more money. My resolution this year is to let God take complete control of my life, I want to do what He wants, when He wants it done. I want to make myself a gift wholly, pleasing, and acceptable to God. (Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.)

I want to be where God wants and do his works according to His word. I pray that you to give yourself to God this year, maybe tell some stranger on the street who looks like there having a bad day that someone loves them, telling someone that they can be assured of life after death. Spread his Word and don’t be ashamed.

Christmas is over, the blizzard is here, and we’ve been stuck inside for 2 days now. We haven’t gotten to bored as we’ve been playing with all our new Christmas presents but I was flipping through my mom’s new iPod touch and i saw a song, I don’t remember the name of it, but I think it was something along the lines of There Will be a Day in the short excerpt of it the artist sang about the day when we would be with Jesus in heaven. I got to thinking and I realized that when we get to heaven it will be infinity times better than our best Christmas. How I long for the day that I will be reunited with loved ones and others we’ve meet through our life.

The day I get to heaven will be one of the best days of my life at that point. I long for the day when I will get to see Jesus face to face and I get to meet the one who gave me a chance at salvation. We should all be longing for this day more than anything but next to this we should also want to tell everyone the good news that they can have salvation too! Everyone needs to know this because we are all equal in God’s eyes. He shows no favoritism so we shouldn’t either, whether we are black, white, purple or green we were put on God’s green earth for a reason. Just remember we must show his undying love to everyone not just ourselves. Spread his love, show someone that somebody was willing to die for them, that will get there attention.

I challenge you to share God’s love with the next person you meet in town, just get to know them, start a conversation, and work your way to talking about God. They might walk away from you but the Bible says one sows another reaps, this means that one person will plant the word of God into someones heart and later on in life someone else will come along and “harvest” them or bring them to God. You might not get to reap the soul every time but wouldn’t it feel good to know that you planted the word into their hearts? If you are feeling shy about it just pray to God to give you the words to say. He will do it. Remember Luke 10:2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. Be these harvesters, theses reapers of souls be on the front lines of this most ancient and grueling wars in human history.
